Gorilla Glue Singles

1 (or 2) use size to eliminate waste

One of the knocks offered by Gorilla Glue detractors has been the waste when unused glues went bad in the bottle, primarily for now-and-then users. The folks at Gorilla Glue have been listening and now offer smaller packaging to serve the needs of these occasional users.

We should note that while the packaging is smaller, the glue inside is the same Gorilla Glue with all of the same properties. It is 100% waterproof, can be used indoors and out, is temperature resistant, sandable, paintable, stainable, and still expands 3 to 4 times after application. Of course we still wet one side of the joint to assist curing. It has a clamp time of 1 to 2 hours, open time of about 5 to 10-minutes, cures fully in 24 hours and dries to a light tan color that is neutral in many wood species.

What’s New

The Gorilla Glue Singles come in four one-time-use tubes per package. Each tube contains 3g (.11oz) of glue which is more than it sounds like. For repair type uses each tube is probably good for two uses in many situations. The two-piece caps have a spout and a re-sealing outer cap that also has a puncture tip to open the soft metal tube. The package of four tubes come with four spout and cap sets.

This new packaging allows you to use a little glue without exposing a large container to the air. The smaller tubes also make it easier to re-seal small amounts of unused glue for use later on. But now if the next use is too far in the future only a small amount of glue can be lost.

The soft metal tubes (left) have enough glue for two average repairs and seal well with the enclosed cap system. The caps (right) include the spout and a sealing outer cap that also has a point for puncturing the soft metal seal on the tube.

Conclusions

Gorilla Glue has as many uses outside of woodworking as it does within the hobby. The new Gorilla Glue Singles make these repair type uses more economical and insure always having fresh glue on hand when you need it.

Each package of 4 individual tubes has a street price of about $4.95. (11-6-2012) I know that doesn’t sound cheap but consider the elimination of lost glue and the per-use cost can be far below using larger bottles for the occasional repair usage. The good news is that despite the smaller package, the Gorilla Glue Singles have the same, tough glue we have depended on over the years.
