Tall "Shop" Cabinet
#NWW010
Easy -to-build and versatile
Difficulty: New Woodworker & Up
Text, Photos & Design by Tom Hintz
Originally designed as a shop
cabinet, this project has been altered for use in the kitchen as a pantry that fits the smaller layouts of today. Others have converted it to a storage cabinet for the family room to house toys, videotapes and other things that need to be put away.
The three boxes that fit into the lower shelves contain my household electrical, plumbing and general fastener supplies that I wanted separated from the wood shop. Here again, others are finding many other purposes for these handy "take-along" boxes.
This project can be built from virtually any type of wood and can be dressed up with raised panel doors or whatever else appeals to you, with few other changes to the plan.
As described in the NewWoodworker.com Custom Plan Set, the Tall "Shop" Cabinet is approximately 72"-tall, 24"-wide and 11 ½"-deep. Those basic dimensions can be changed easily if your needs are a bit wider or deeper.
The Plan Set contains complete professionally written step-by-step instructions, construction options suggestions, links to helpful stories on this site for procedures you may need to "brush up" on and 5 pages of drawings, all for only $2.95.
